Day 28 - Easy Twist

DAY 28 Pose: Easy Twist - Parivrtta Sukhasana Alignment: Find a comfortable seated posture, this can be cross legged, in a chair, with the legs straight. Find softness within the belly while elongating the spine, Let the crown of the head have a direction towards the ceiling, rather than lifting and sitting straight, as we twist we still want to allow the natural curvatures of the spine. Resting the right hand on the left outer thigh (or knee if cross legged) take a deep breath in, lengthen the collar bones, as you exhale slowly and gently begin to twist to the left hand side. Turning the head to gaze at the space behind you, You can work into this pose, passively, encouraging space within the chest, shoulders and waist. You can also draw the belly in to stimulate the abdominal organs, strengthen the lower back and spine. Benefits: Aids digestion, releases tension within the spine, back body. Opens the heart, chest and shoulders. Helps with detoxification and allows energy to run freely within the body.
